Earlier this year, cruelty-free shoppers were outraged when they discovered that Ecover and Method (aka People Against Dirty) had been acquired by SC Johnson - a company that openly admits to animal testing and whose brands include Duck, Glade, Pledge and Mr Muscle.

Now that their profits will support animal testing, Ecover and Method can no longer be considered truly cruelty-free.

Therefore, Naturewatch Foundation has revoked their endorsement in our Compassionate Shopping Guide.

Earlier this year, cruelty-free shoppers were outraged when they discovered that Ecover and Method (aka People Against Dirty) had been acquired by SC Johnson - a company that openly admits to animal testing and whose brands include Duck, Glade, Pledge and Mr Muscle.

Therefore, Naturewatch Foundation has revoked their endorsement in our Compassionate Shopping Guide.

Furious at this sharp U-turn in the brands’ ethical stance, previously devoted customers have sent thousands of emails to People Against Dirty following a campaign we launched on World Day for Animals in Laboratories (24th April). Hundreds more aired their views on social media.

Ecover and Method have responded to comments by stating that they do not test on animals.

However, neither brand has denied that their profits will now fund animal testing carried out by, or on behalf of, their new parent company.

The response to our previous campaign was a fantastic start. It is crucial that we now send an even stronger message to SC Johnson via Ecover, Method - and the UK's retailers.

Send an email urging ethical superstores to remove Ecover and Method from the shelves until SC Johnson implements an acceptable animal testing policy.

Your email will be sent to six of the largest ethical stockists of People Against Dirty products in the UK.

Animal welfare has never been high on the agenda for companies like SC Johnson. We hope that, with enough pressure, Ecover and Method will help them finally realise that animals are more important than profits.

Ecover and Method have not denied that their profits will fund animal testing carried out by their new parent company. However, they could influence SC Johnson from within.

They need to realise how important the issue is to their previously loyal customers. Removing Ecover and Method from your shopping basket is a fantastic start.

Now ask six of the UK’s largest ethical stockists of Ecover and Method to remove them from the shelves until SC Johnson goes cruelty-free.
